Hand cast in Milan by the artisans of Gipsoteca Fumagalli & Dossi, one of the city’s last historic plaster-casting ateliers, this piece embodies the enduring legacy of the gipsoteca—the sculptural “libraries” that once preserved and disseminated masterpieces of antiquity. Founded in the late 19th century, Fumagalli & Dossi has long supplied museums, academies, and collectors with casts of classical and Renaissance works, sustaining a craft deeply tied to Milan’s artistic heritage.

Each cast is taken from an archival mould, poured in fine plaster, then carefully released, trimmed, and finished by hand to a luminous matte surface with crisp relief. Subtle variations and delicate tool marks reveal the maker’s touch.
